About The Doctor Directory
What we are, who runs us, and what we do.
What is The Doctor Directory?
The Doctor Directory is a free, curated US directory of 70,000+ verified physicians and specialists, operated by WETYR Corp. Patients use it to search for doctors by name, specialty, condition, city, state, or ZIP code, read patient reviews, view credentials, and submit consultation requests directly to the practice.
Doctors can claim their profile, upload license credentials, and earn a Verified badge that signals real-time NPI and state-license verification. The site has been operating since 2024 and currently covers all 50 US states plus the District of Columbia.
Why was The Doctor Directory created?
Most patients struggle to find verified, top-rated specialists outside their immediate insurance network or referral chain. We built The Doctor Directory to give patients a single, free, searchable index of US physicians sourced from the federal NPI Registry, enriched with patient reviews and verified credentials, with no scheduling middleman between patient and practice.
How many doctors are listed?
Over 70,000 physician profiles covering 35+ specialties and 87+ medical conditions, with profiles in 30,000+ US ZIP codes. The directory grows continuously as new NPI registrations are processed and as doctors and practices claim and update their listings.
For Patients
How to use the directory to find and contact a doctor.
How do I find a doctor in my city?
Use the search at /find-a-doctor and filter by city or ZIP code, or browse the dedicated city-specialty hubs at /cities/[city]-[state]/[specialty]. Each hub lists the top-rated doctors in that geography along with their specialty, sub-specialty, conditions treated, and patient ratings.
How do I find a specialist for a specific condition?
Browse the condition hubs at /conditions/[condition-slug]. We index 87 conditions including arthritis, bunion, sleep apnea, migraine, diabetes, knee replacement, rotator cuff tear, fibromyalgia, ADHD, and endometriosis. Each hub lists doctors who treat the condition, with filters by location.
How do I submit a consultation request?
Every doctor profile includes a consultation request form. Submit your name, email, phone, condition, and preferred dates. The request is delivered immediately to the practice email and saved to the doctor's owner dashboard inbox. The doctor or office manager can reply directly to you through the dashboard.
Do I need to create an account to contact a doctor?
No. The Doctor Directory is free for patients and requires no account. The consultation request form on each doctor profile asks only for name, email, phone, condition, and message.
For Doctors and Practice Managers
How to claim, update, and manage a listing.
How do I claim my doctor listing?
Visit your profile page on thedoctordirectory.com. Click the "Is this you? Claim Listing" banner near the top of the page. Enter your practice email and request a 6-digit code. The code is delivered by email and is valid for 30 minutes. Enter the code, set a password (8+ characters), and you will be redirected to your owner dashboard at /my-listing.
What can I edit after claiming my listing?
From the dashboard you can edit your bio, phone, website, hours, languages, years of experience, conditions treated, and travel availability. You can upload photos (limit by plan: free 1, premium 5, elite 10, sponsor 20). All edits go through a brief moderation queue before publishing.
Where do consultation requests go?
Consultation requests appear in your dashboard's Leads tab and are also emailed to your practice email immediately. You can reply directly to the patient from the dashboard - the reply is delivered to the patient's email and the conversation thread is saved on the lead record.
I'm not listed yet - how do I get added?
Email [email protected] with your full name, NPI number, specialty, practice address, and a contact email. We will create the listing within 3 business days and send claim instructions.
Verification & Trust
How we make sure listings are real.
How are doctors verified?
Verification is a five-step process: (1) the doctor or practice owner claims the listing using their practice email; (2) they receive a 6-digit code by email to confirm ownership; (3) they upload state license documentation through the dashboard; (4) our admin team manually reviews the documents and cross-checks the NPI Registry record; (5) on approval, the listing displays a green Verified badge and is prioritized in search.
What does the Verified badge mean?
The Verified badge means a real human on our team has cross-checked the listing's claimed identity against the federal NPI Registry, confirmed state license documentation, and approved the claim. Verified listings are prioritized in search and on hub pages.
Where does the directory get its doctor data?
Doctor names, NPI numbers, primary specialties, and primary practice addresses come from the US National Provider Identifier (NPI) Registry, a public federal database maintained by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Once a doctor claims their listing, they can update phone, website, hours, photos, and bio to reflect current practice details.
Patient Reviews
How reviews work and how doctors can respond.
Are reviews on The Doctor Directory real?
Yes. Every patient review is submitted by a real user through the review form at the bottom of each doctor profile. Every review is human-moderated by our team before publication. Reviews flagged as fake, defamatory, or non-substantive are rejected.
Can a doctor respond to a review publicly?
Yes. After claiming a listing, the doctor or office manager logs into the dashboard, opens the Reviews tab, and posts a public response under any approved review. The response appears below the review on the public profile, labeled "Response from this doctor."
How do I report a fake or abusive review?
Email [email protected] with the URL and review details. Our moderation team reviews flagged reviews within 3 business days and removes any that violate our review policy.
Geographic Coverage
Where we have doctors listed.

What major cities have the most doctors listed?
Highest density markets include Los Angeles CA, San Francisco CA, Houston TX, Dallas TX, Miami FL, Orlando FL, New York NY, Brooklyn NY, Philadelphia PA, Chicago IL, Atlanta GA, Charlotte NC, Boston MA, Detroit MI, Phoenix AZ, Denver CO, Seattle WA, Las Vegas NV, Nashville TN, and Washington DC.

Pricing & Plans
What it costs and what each plan includes.
What does it cost to subscribe as a doctor?
Free: $0 with 1 photo. Premium: $49/month with 5 photos, lead inbox, and lead replies. Elite: $99/month with 10 photos, plan-weighted search boost, and analytics. Sponsor: $499/month with 20 photos, top placement on city + specialty pages, and priority support. All plans are processed monthly through Square.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Log into /my-listing, open the Billing tab, and click Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Your listing reverts to the free tier; profile, reviews, and leads remain in place.
Are paid doctors ranked higher than unpaid?
Paid plans receive a transparent visibility boost - Sponsor 400, Elite 300, Premium 200, Free 100 weight - but reviews, ratings, and engagement are independent ranking factors. A free listing with strong reviews can and does outrank a paid listing with poor reviews.
Privacy & Data
How we handle patient and doctor data.
Does The Doctor Directory share patient data with third parties?
No. Patient consultation requests are sent only to the practice the patient selected. We do not sell patient data and never share it with third parties. Full details at /privacy-policy.
Can I remove my listing from the directory?
Doctors who hold their NPI registration can request removal by emailing [email protected] from the email on file with the practice. Removal requests are processed within 7 business days. Note: NPI Registry records are public and may continue to appear elsewhere on the web.
Does The Doctor Directory provide medical advice?
No. The Doctor Directory does not provide medical advice, diagnoses, prescriptions, or treatment recommendations. We publish business and credential information about licensed physicians so patients can find and contact appropriate providers. Always speak with a licensed physician for medical advice.
vs. Other Directories
How we compare to Healthgrades, Zocdoc, Vitals, and WebMD Care.
How is The Doctor Directory different from Healthgrades, Zocdoc, or Vitals?
The Doctor Directory is free for patients, multi-step verified, sourced from the federal NPI Registry, and covers all 50 states with 70,000+ profiles. Doctors can publicly respond to reviews. Patients submit consultation requests directly to the practice email rather than booking through a third-party scheduler. We do not sell patient data and we do not display third-party sponsored ads on doctor profiles.
Why use The Doctor Directory instead of a Google search?
A Google search returns a mix of paid ads, third-party schedulers, and aggregator sites. The Doctor Directory gives you a single, free, structured view of each doctor: specialty, sub-specialty, conditions treated, location, phone, website, hours, photos, bio, patient reviews, and a direct consultation form. Verification is human-reviewed, not auto-scraped.
