Find your profile
Search your name at /find-a-doctor or type your name into Google with "The Doctor Directory" after it. Every US MD and DO in the NPI Registry has a placeholder profile.
Click Claim Listing
On your profile page, click the "Is this you? Claim Listing" banner near the top. This starts the verification flow.
Verify your practice email
Enter the email on file with your practice. You will receive a 6-digit code in your inbox within 60 seconds. Code is valid for 30 minutes.
Upload license documentation
Upload your state medical license. Accepted formats: PDF, JPG, PNG. Our admin team cross-checks it against the federal NPI Registry within 3 business days.
Set your password
Create a password (8+ characters). Access your dashboard at /my-listing to update photos, bio, hours, respond to reviews, and receive patient consultation requests.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to claim my doctor listing?
The claim flow itself takes 60 seconds. Verification of your uploaded license by our admin team takes up to 3 business days. Your profile is live and receiving patient requests immediately after you set your password; the green Verified badge appears once license review completes.
What if my name isn't in the directory?
Every US MD and DO with an active NPI Registry entry has a placeholder profile. If you cannot find yourself, email admin@thedoctordirectory.com with your full name, NPI number, specialty, practice address, and contact email. We create the listing within 3 business days and send you the claim link.
Is there any cost to claim?
No. Claiming is 100% free. There is no credit card required, no trial, and no auto-billing. Paid plans ($49 Premium, $99 Elite, $499 Sponsor per month) are optional upgrades for doctors who want more photos, full lead inbox access, and priority search placement.
Who verifies the license?
Our admin team manually reviews every uploaded license document and cross-checks it against the federal NPI Registry and, where applicable, state medical board records. This is documented in our editorial team methodology and is the reason the Verified badge means what it says.
What if a patient submitted a review before I claimed the listing?
All patient reviews submitted before you claimed remain on your profile. Once verified, you can post a public response under any approved review directly from your dashboard. Reviews are human-moderated before publication.
